cece PENISton

the previous post reminded me of how much i rocked this remix in my bedroom last week:

i love gay bar music.

Gay and White

John and I have been championing this song in Winston Salem for months. Pretty much since the crookers remix came out. Countless house parties and "club nights" later we have finally gotten everyone all greased up to sing along when we play it out. One of the greatest feelings in the world of DJing is the moment of surprise when a hook drops and people start hollering the words to what you're playing. We have an ace in the hole, day and night wise, for the brother reade show on the 4th. Follow the remix train from the original mix (pretty nice) to the crooker's remix (totally amazing) to this newest version. Andrew, remember the Duane Nova E.P. "7 Very Academic Remixes?" You'll love this...

Lady Gaga Remix

Ok, I am starting to see challenges being put forth. I will address them one at a time, in a sqrt type delayed reaction First, Ian a while back before Jesus' B-Day issued a remix challenge, or something like that. He said do funny. I broke some shit out those next two day's and had a couple of ideas working. Then I spaced out. I am now responding with a funny little blip to this challenge. 1:48 chunk of chopped up Lady Gaga song called "Just Dance." It would have been longer, but I didn't have the patience to do the 3rd verse, this song blows squirels.

-Lady Gaga Remix-

when you listen, keep in mind for the last 3 months, I have only been listening crunk KC radio when I roll around in my car, and that is really it. My remix of it also probably blows squirrels. I blame KC crunk radio. I was going to put this up a couple of days ago, but I had to wait a few posts past that AFX post it, can't put velveta next to brie.

On another note, 808's and Heartbreaks is a nice name, but it be whinny.

It should have been 303's and double D's.

What would Dre do?

STANKY LEG! stanky litter box.

So if everything falls through with the dancing robotic pizza band, FNBGS could always get in contact with this dude's cat. Unfortunately, we'd have to contact "lil felon da feline" vis a vis the dude with the hat on who has lovingly choreographed this unique and haunting stanky leg video. Can you imagine how stoned the two of them are? What's more, can you imagine what it would be like to actually cold email that dude with a 'bidnezz propozal' for his 'padnuh, lil felon'. I bet he'd play hardball with the distribution rights..

The crazy thing is this video has 82,000 plus views now, which is 20,000 more than when I saw it last week, and another 20,000 more than when i saw it the week before. These two are blowin' up!

Faithfully yours

Theory of Everything

This guy may be on to something.

I wish all websites looked like this one.

We are the robots.......

A friend showed me some videos a week ago and i have been pretty much mesmerized by them ever since. The band is called the Rock-afire explosion and they used to perform every day at showbiz pizza and later on chuck-e-cheese's. After a few days of promising myself that I'd gather the nerve write the email, I got in contact with Aaron Fechter who designs these things and i think he's going to program a FNBGS music video. We are talking at the moment about the particulars, but i hope he'll cut us a little slack since we a are totally broke and seems like a cool guy. If everything works out we'll be taking a camera crew to his robotics studio and the rest will be history.

This is a MGMT video, robots programmed by Aaron Fetcher.

This is an Usher video programmed by Chris Thrash. It's "make love in this club" and I'm sure someone out there might by influences to make love to a robot in an animal suit in a pizza restaraunt by this.

If you poke around online you'll see that there is a little controversy surrounding this band of robots because of some videos by Thrash (a former associate{?} who owns a "rock afire explosion", as per his childhood dream) went viral. If you want to begin to peer down this rabbit-hole, check out this video of Mr. Thrash.

and then check out this thread.

more as this story develops.

Good afternoon gentlemen...

Jarrett here. I look forward to making important contributions to the Web log community.

I wish this was where I went to elemetary school . .

Believe it or not, Buda School has been around for 100 years! This school year we will be having our centennial celebration. Our Campus Leadership Team (CLT) brainstormed several ways to help make this time in history very special. Over the next several months, we will be doing a variety of activities involving the number 100.

Didn't we have a buda pledge in A-town? We always made good choices- see yard of beef, see Evan Williams plus Gin, see records flying across road, see glass breaking. I took the buda pledge.

Everyone else imaginable has emerged from the woodwork, but we're still fiftyeleven Jarretts shy of a quorum.

Gansta

The old lady has been updating her blog from our travels over the pond, and she posted this shit on it, which I didn't even see her take. Figured you all would find it amusing. It was kinda funny, I would walk down the street and people got the fuck out of my way.

escape from NY

Do you know how hard it is to rent a car if you are pretty much a credit-cardless waste of oxygen? pretty hard. Some tips.... in new york state you can get your college age friends to vouch for you from the age of 18 on... all you have to do is pay them handsomely. I almost had to put my gold ring in hock.

Don't bother with customer service courtesies without a good lie handy. My friend and I wrangled an avis rental with "My favorite aunt Alice died and i have to get home fast because uncle Jesse is deranged." Stick to the lie and sound more distressed at every jag in rental policy... Jerry Mcguire that shit.

It'll feel a little like surfing out of the city with flames licking your heels but it beats the bus.

see you in winston.

explorations of Lynchian tropes

The Pervert's Guide to Cinema : 2006/9: Sophie Fiennes

I recently saw this endurance testing film breaking down the complexities of cinema. Hosted by Slovoj Zizek the film goes through different elements of cinema exposing them primarily with psychoanalytical tools. Heavily referencing Freudian concepts of ego, id, superego, libido, etc. we're let in on some ways which we relate to the structures and narrative devices of film. The presentation is really quite arresting, film clips are shown then Zizek literally places himself in the scenes he is referencing. One of my favorite examples is when he's talking about 'The Conversation' (ff coppola, 1974, starring gene hackman) and is sitting in the bathroom where Harry (Hackman) discovers that murder evidence has been flushed down the toilet (by way of blood overflowing out of the toilet). At one point an analogy is made between the overflowing toilet and cinema itself...pretty funny stuff. Charlie Chaplin, Hitchcock, and David Lynch serve as central figures around with the theories proposed revolve. Its a bit long but ultimately a valuable thing for the toolbox.

AB 0000

In the spirit of a new world, share with me this nugget of old-world sentimentality:

steinvord = afx? hmm?

i could be way late on this, but........

steinvord

if this is not rdj, it is a very adept copycat.

it's almost too weird to not be him.

weigh in.

also, sorry if anyone is offended, but since i'm on rdj, i found this:

where oh where?

where's ned? what's his e-mail?

First Post (yay!)

So here is a rad thing I found on the internets (via). It's basically a bunch of people posting streams of early 90's hardcore and jungle records.

there are tons of richard simmons parodies out there, but this one is the best.
ludachrist is fuhggin hilarious.

Southern Pride, even in sunny Spain

I just found this picture, but it made me laugh really hard when I was in Spain. We were in Cadiz, and it was hot, and the beach was fun. Drunken Skribble on an old ass rock wall of the most over requested song in the Bible Belt. O how it made me home sick. But I just found it, Southern Pride even in Sunny Spain.

Jeff Shore and Jon Fisher: Reel to Reel

So, I saw this exhibit on the website of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown KC. I was hyped, so I google mapped the mother fucker, got set, head right and rolled to KC on Saturday. This Museum is in like 4 buildings spread all over town, and I went to the wrong one.

But it still looked cool to post. Installation art and wires and records.

The blurb from http://www.kemperart.org/exhibits/Reeltoreel_2008.asp

"Fashioned from wood, wires, lights, motors, and automated video and audio components, Reel to Reel is a sculptural video installation by Texas-based artists Jeff Shore and Jon Fisher. Working collaboratively since 2002, Shore and Fisher have constructed a complex network of floor- and wall-based kinetic sculptures, each containing a mechanized film set or an electro-acoustic instrument. Once activated, Reel to Reel delivers a multisensory experience that is both poetic and captivating, advancing dialogues between the history of cinema and music, and human interaction with new technologies. The exhibition is co-organized by the Kemper Museum and the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, North Carolina.

RIP

I guess most of you have heard this, but for some reason, when I think about you kats, I think of this Kat. How would "Crossfire" handle an interview with this dude. Stern can't even handle him, in two parts. You will get played out of here.

ok ok ok

alright so, favorite album of the year?
i've already put in my vote for the bbml record but i do think that the latest
Autechre: Quaristice is an amazing little thing of a record. it lacks a serious headbanger
but, with the exception of one or two tracks, the whole thing is solid. (and you can't really
fuck with chenc9...classic autechre.)

who's up?

This is a pretty good summation of R. Buckminster Fuller's ideology. I'm stoked about the "Starting With the Universe" exhibition that's coming to the MCA in the fall.

Happy New Fucking Year

What better way to ring in the new year than with a spirited conversation on a topic appropriate for this forum? Soothe your hangover away to the dulcet tones of Robert Novak. It's bewildering to see how as a society we've come so far/gotten nowhere at all.
